Brainlab-NeuroPoint Alliance Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) Registry
The joint Brainlab-NeuroPoint Alliance Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) Registry is a database consisting of prospectively collected data from 23 different health institutions, on over 6,000 patients to date. The SRS Registry gathers important patient data for research purposes and healthcare quality improvement. It was developed in collaboration with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) and the American Society for Radiation Oncology.
A recent study published by the Journal of Neurosurgery Publishing Group conducted an outcome analysis on patients with intracranial metastasis, using data from the registry.
We spoke with Dr. Jason Sheehan, MD, PhD, Professor of Neurosurgery at UVA Health and lead principal investigator of the study.
He felt very positively about what the SRS Registry means for improving patient care and advancing the field of SRS, stating that "Such a registry has the advantages of capturing all types of patients treated with SRS and, in so doing, often reflects the real-world outcomes of patients better than data derived from more constrained clinical trials.".
This study is one of more than seven studies published to date that used data from the SRS Registry.
